My name is Brittany. My dad calls me ‘Spaniel,’ my brother calls me ‘Buttany,’ but my friends call me ‘Britt.’ I’m a twenty-something year old resident of Salt Lake City, Utah. I began my first blog, Weekday Wisdom, on Blogger in August 2005. After two years, I wanted to try a new adventure so I came here to Fluent Brittish.

Scotty and I have been married since May 2003, and after a brief battle with infertility, we had our first son, Nicklaus, in December 2006. We are an easy-going, laid back family. We love going on bike rides together or playing at the park. Some of the most fun times we have consist of nothing more than a good conversation on our family room floor. Scotty and I hope to have another child someday, but we are not currently working on it.

Britt's Family

I sew a little, dance a little, sing a little, play sports a little, and cook a little. If I were to enter a competition for any of those talents, I’d probably come in somewhere between middle and last, but at least I’d get a participation ribbon. I love board games, books, movies, and nights out with my friends.

I’m a lover of all things edible, well, not all things-those panties from Spencer’s Gifts need to go. Allow me to rephrase that, I love me some good, non-underclothing related food, particularly Chinese and BBQ. Mm! Mm! Mm!

I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I currently serve in three of my church’s organizations: Womens’ Sports, Primary, and Relief Society. My church responsibilities occupy a lot of my time, but I appreciate the growth and opportunities that come with serving others. I love my family, my church, and my Savior, Jesus Christ.

I have been blessed with the opportunity to stay at home with Nicklaus, but being a SAHM was a choice I struggled with for a long time. I left a job that I loved to enter the unfamiliar world of motherhood, and for a long time I felt alone and unappreciated, and I missed the success of the work place. I’ve had several job offers since having Nicklaus, and I used to consider the benefits of each one, but now I immediately turn them down. This is a chance I will only give up if I have to. I’m willing to live without high speed internet, DVR, and a gym membership if it means I can share these early years with my little boy.

Most of my posting is done from a dial-up internet connection. I hate it with a passion, and I feel like I would fit right in with the Neanderthals, dragging my club around and beating my chest while I tie up my phone line, but I’ll take what I can get.

**UPDATE** We now have a four-month high speed internet contract. This is a trial to see how well it can be incorporated into our budget (but am I kidding? I’m in love).

I love reading comments and making new internet friends, so don’t forget to say hello while you’re here. You can also stop by my other blog, Thrifty and Nifty and see my 100 Things page if you’d like to learn more about me. Happy reading, and thanks for stopping by!
